2020 Itinerary (Subject to Change)
Day 1 - Arrival - Milan
Pick-up at Malpensa airport or Milan train station and private transfer to the UNESCO World Heritage Langhe Monferrato Roero hills. Check-in at the selected charming villa, your greeter will welcome you to this special part of Italy- Welcome aperitif and relax. Dinner in an elegant restaurant to taste a local menu and overnight stay.
Day 2 - Barolo Wine Area
Meeting with the driver and your local tour guide and departure to discover the growing area of Barolo, one of the most highly-prized wines in the world, starting from Barolo, the town from which the King of Wines and Wine of Kings gets its name for a stroll in the centre. Guided visit to the WiMu – Wine Museum hosted in the stunning Castel of Barolo: a trip in the history of wine production, with scenography effects and interactive installations. Short transfer to visit a well-known wine cellar with tasting. Picnic lunch surrounded by vineyards growing Barolo wine: a sample of the specialities of Langhe-style cuisine, to savour while seated comfortably. Transfer to Alba, the capital of Langhe hills, for a stroll in the elegant town centre among boutiques, historical cafes and typical products: free time for shopping. Dinner in a characteristic restaurant and overnight stay.
Day 3 - Amazing Tastes: Cheeses, Hazelnut & Special Cooking Class
After breakfast, meeting with the driver, your local tour guide and departure to discover the area of Alta Langa, where the landscape becomes wilder thanks to woods and hazelnut groves. Visit to a small farm producing hazelnuts: from the grove to the laboratory with final tasting. The panoramic tour continues for a guided visit to a niche cheese producer with tasting lunch. Time to relax and enjoy the pure air and the bucolic surroundings. Back to the accommodation and relax. Exciting cookery lesson on ‘the cuisine of the Langhe’, a “hands on” experience to learn how to prepare a complete traditional menu based on local recipes: the dishes prepared during the lesson will then be tasted afterwards at dinner, in the special atmosphere of candle-lit wine barrels. Overnight stay.
Day 4 - Transfer to Liguria & Pesto Lesson
After your breakfast buffet and checkout, transfer to the Italian Riviera with private driver (about 2 hours). Check-in at your boutique accommodation in the charming atmosphere of Genoa historical center. Your private local tour guide will welcome you and together you’ll reach a small food market where a ligurian expert will welcome you to teach you how to make the famous green sauce with mortar and pestle, as the tradition wants. After the demonstration you’ll have lunch with fresh local ingredients. Free dinner in the evening & overnight stay.
Day 5 - Genoa historical center Tour & special aperitif
After breakfast, you’ll meet your private tour guide for a walking tour of the historical center of Genoa, discovering its monuments, narrow alleys and ancient food shops! Wandering through the “Carrugi” alleys is a unique experience and we believe that by just walking through these maze of historical streets, you’ll find the “real” Genoa essence. You’ll discover the largest medieval old town in Europe, walk along its authentic medieval alleyways, stop in the squares and in the renaissance streets of the historical town. During your tour you’ll discover the ultra-centenarian food shops of the historical center and you will taste some of the most typical local products! Free lunch and free afternoon. In the late afternoon you’ll have an aperitif tasting local specialties in a special noble palace under the frescoes. Free dinner in the evening & overnight stay.
Day 6 - Cinque Terre Tour & Wine Tasting
After breakfast, meeting with your local private tour guide and departure via private transfer for Cinque Terre. Today you will visit the two iconic villages of Cinque Terre: Manarola and Vernazza. You’ll wander among the tiny squares and side alleys of the villages, you’ll walk among the famous terraced vineyards of Manarola, and reach the picturesque Vernazza with a romantic walk till the capuchin cloister. In the afternoon you’ll be welcome by a localwine grover for a special wine tasting followed by a light lunch with fresh local ingredients. Tasting the Cinque Terre wine is something not to be missed. We think the wine in this area speaks about The Cinque Terre, the local people who hardly work this land from centuries with passion and fondness. Your private driver will take you back to your accommodation. Free dinner in the evening. Overnight stay.
Day 7 - Tastes of Portofino: Cooking Lesson
After breakfast, meeting with your local private tour guide and departure via private driver to reach Portofino small village. Portofino is now the center of élite tourism. You will visit the tiny village with its spectacular castle, the church perched on the cliff and the luxury boutiques. In the late morning your tour continues with an exclusive experience in Portofino, reaching a private terraced garden just above the village, from which an amazing view of the village and its bay can be admired. Among olive and lemon trees, herbs and vines, you will meet a local chef and have a cooking lesson followed by lunch. Back to Santa Margherita Ligure by public boat and private driver to your accommodation. Farewell aperitif in the evening. Overnight stay.
